Visual AM was able to report from AM2con this year at this time we have a great interview with the band, Kazha!
Kazha’s lineup has somewhat change since our last interview at Nan Desu Kan in Colorado with two new members, Masaya, on drums, and original member, Zen, on bass. We were able to sit with them in the exhibit hall of AM2con to talk about their role within Kazha, their strength and weaknesses, and their view of music.
Visual AM: Thank you for taking time out of your day to have this interview with us, if you can, please introduce yourself.
Kazuha: We are Kazha from Japan (laughs)
-individual members, please.
Kazuha: I’m Kazuha, vocals
Hideki: I’m Hideki, guitarist
Masaya: I’m Masaya, drums
Zen: I’m Zen, bass
VAM: How does each member’s personality contribute to the band?
Kazuha: hm, its a difficult question… (laughs; there is talk between Kazuha and Hideki at this time) Zen, bass, is very honest, not serious, but honest. Masaya is crazy, crazy strange. Hideki is silly.
VAM: For Masaya and Zen, your fans are eager to see you perform. Can you tell us what we can expect from you during a show?
Hideki: Crazy!
Kazuha: Yes, Crazies!
Zen: Better sound than before
VAM: What kind of interaction do all the members have with one another?
Kazuha: each other?!.. (Kazuha and Hideki once again talks among each other) Hideki said something physical! (laughs) I dont understand! (laughs) We werent friends before Kazha, we actually met each other over the internet. So each person has their own style and good in part as musicians. We learn from each other, respect each other!
VAM: So if Kazha was a family, what role would each member be?
Kazuha: My son! (pointing to Masaya) Masaya would be baby, little baby, little little baby. (laughs) Hideki..
Hideki: Cousin!
Kazuha: hm.., no.
-brother?
Kazuha: hm… Dad! Father. (laughs)
Hideki: Grandfather! (laughs)
Kazuha: I’m mother (laughs) Zen would be my brother.
VAM: Kazuha, Is it difficult being the only female in the band?
Kazuha: Not really. Because I dont have to carry anything heavy. (laughs) Its easy!
VAM: Now for the boys in band, how do you handle traveling together?
Kazuha: They try not to be too close to each other. Not too friendly, we dont drink as much together, and we try not to party as much either because once they get close there might be arguments or fights.
VAM: like brothers?!
Kazuha: Yeah! They dont want that because they are not brothers. Professional co-workers! (laughs)
VAM: Name one thing about each member that the fans wouldn’t know
Kazuha: There are alot! (laughs)
Hideki: Alot!
Kazuha: We want to tell but most of them we can’t tell! (laughs) Its a secret!
(band thinks of something they can say, there is deep conversation between each other)
Kazuha: Zen might look quiet but he likes to talk a lot to people. So if you go over to him and say Hello, he would be happy! But he doesnt look like it, he looks really cool. It’s the opposite! Hideki is really friendly.
Hideki: I change… personality (laughs)
Kazuha: He would go crazy. If he’s mad at something or frustrated he would go crazy in a bad way, not like violence but he would break his own things, like his sunglasses! Now for masaya… (pauses a bit to hear what the guys say) Hideki said that since he recently just started with us, we dont really know. But thats a joke! (laughs)
Hideki: He’s always sleeping! (laughs)
Kazuha: Even when he’s playing drums, he’s asleep! (laughs)
VAM: What is the craziest thing you have done on stage?
Kazuha: Hideki said he’s crazy, but we dont really do anything crazy on stage. So this is kind of hard… (after some time) Ah! Hideki remembered that in our first live performance when I tried to sing the mic was not on so I got mad and threw the mic on the floor. (laughs) So I went and took the mic from another person, but that person was also singing so he couldnt sing anymore. Thats probably the craziest thing! (laughs)
VAM: Do you have any special talents or hobbies?
Kazuha: I train dogs… and people, especially him. (pointing at masaya)
Masaya: I’m trained!
Kazuha: and he’s good at drawing too.
Hideki: I like cooking! I’m good at cooking.
Kazuha: Zen is PC specialist, and with html.
VAM: What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Kazuha: Zen’s strength is he is a perfectionist. Zen weakness is airplanes, whenever he is on them he gets scared.
-Like afraid of heights?!
Kazuha: Yes, that is his weakness.
Hideki: I am lazy.
Kazuha: His strength is that he remembers everything. Masaya strength is that he sleeps and eats well, and his weakness is that he eats too much and sleeps too much. (laughs) Me?! hm, I’m always positive and believing in myself! My weakness… I get nervous over things, a lot of things. I’m too sensitive!
VAM: What does music mean to you?
Hideki: Change the world! (everyone laughs) Love and Peace!
Kazuha: For Zen, Its just a natural thing. He never really thought about it, its just natural. As for Masaya, its his way to express himself. For myself, if I didn’t have music I wouldnt have anything. Its my life, life itself!
VAM: How do you fuse the differences in musical taste within your music?
Kazuha: I studied classical music and that might be different from them, but they also listen and experimented in other genres, like for Zen he listens to industrial and electronica, Hideki with metal, and Masaya with visual kei music. I think they all may have been in a visual band before, but we all listen to different genres.
VAM: Lastly, Please leave a message for your fans and readers!
Kazuha: We do our best so please continue to support us!
We would like to thank Kazha, Jess, and AM2con for this interview!
